Our co-facilitators will share about their families' religious practices in relationship to their Indigeneity and about their personal affiliations with Unitarian Universalism & paganism.
On February 18, 2022, the Alliance For Regional Solutions hosted Dr Joely Proudfit discussing "Confronting Anti-Indigenous Racism & Colonialism in California." We will be screening part of that program before opening to a community Unlearning Conversation about the issues raised in the talk.
On March 15, 2022, the "Indianettes," a drill team from Port Neches-Groves Independent School District, performed a highly racist, anti-Indigenous routine at Disney World.
We will not be showing videos of this insensitive and harmful incident. The issue we will be addressing is that this kind of ingrained racism is excused as "tradition" and continues to harm Indigenous People.
The November 15, 1986, issue of UU World noted the hundred year anniversary of the founding of the Montana Industrial School for Indians, also known as Bond's Mission.
This Unlearning Conversation will be focused on a Community discussion about Unitarian Universalism's connections to residential schools and lack of accountability around Bond's Mission.

Accountability and how to live into the 8th Principle are current concerns in Unitarian Universalism. As UUs are seeking ways to address accountability, we have Indigenous modalities to share. Possible guest relatives.
We are working with the Unitarian Church of Lincoln this month as they engage in a deep discernment on crafting and living into a land acknowledgment and building a relationship with their local Indigenous community.
In honour of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples we will be discussing the United Nations' Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
Our Conversation will be focused on the Residential Schools & their traumatic legacy as we recognize Orange Shirt Day.

Our ILUC team will be taking December 2022 off to rest & prepare for more Unlearning & Workshops in 2023.
